Antonia Dolan has a diverse work experience. Most recently, they have been working at Excel Academy Charter Schools since 2022, first as a Learning Specialist and then as the Learning Support Department Head. Prior to this, Antonia worked at District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) for three years as a Special Education Teacher. They also worked at City Teaching Alliance as a Teaching Fellow and Resident from 2018 to 2022. Additionally, Antonia worked as a 7/8 Grade Math Summer Teacher at Higher Achievement in 2019. Before transitioning into the education field, Antonia gained experience as a Public Opinion Research Intern at the Program for Public Consultation at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy from 2017 to 2018. They also served as a Residential Camp Counselor and Leader-in-Training Director at Camp Woodstock YMCA from 2013 to 2017. Similarly, Antonia worked as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy from 2016 to 2017.
Antonia Dolan has a Master of Science in Education with a focus on Secondary Mathematics and Special Education from the Johns Hopkins University School of Education, which they obtained from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, they attended the University of Maryland from 2015 to 2018, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice. In terms of additional certifications, Antonia obtained a Teaching License-Moderate Disabilities 5-12 and a Teaching License-Standard in PreK-12 Non-Categorial Special Education from the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in April 2023, as well as a Teaching License-Standard in Secondary Mathematics and a Teaching License-Standard in Sheltered English Immersion from the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) in October 2021.

Excel Academy Charter Schools
Excel Academy was founded in 2003 with the mission to provide a high-quality education to students in East Boston and Chelsea Massachusetts, communities that are predominantly low-income and Latinx and historically have faced significant social and educational barriers. Our success in Massachusetts is proof that the opportunity gap can be closed. At Excel Academy Charter Schools, we believe that when a student has the support and tools to pursue a productive post-secondary pathway aligned to their personal identity and values, it can fundamentally change their life trajectory. Over the years, we have grown from one middle school to a network of four schools with 1,400 students in grades 5 to 12. In the fall of 2022 we will welcome a founding class of 5th graders to help us launch Excel Academy Rhode Island. By 2032, Excel Rhode Island will run 4 schools serving over 2,100 students from Providence, Central Falls, and North Providence. We present our students with educational experiences that allow them to grow and discover their best selves so that when they leave our halls, they can successfully navigate all of the post-secondary options available to them. At Excel Academy we learn from our students, families, and staff and make improvements. We have increasingly adapted to provide a holistic education that values our community as collaborators in the learning process, social-emotional support, equity for diverse learners, and fosters identity development.
