John Blem

John Blem has extensive work experience in the hospitality industry. John started their career in 1993 as an Assistant Manager at Radisson Plaza Hotel San Jose. John then worked as an Executive Front Office Manager at Hotel DeAnza, where they improved revenue management and founded the Silicon Valley Concierge Association.

In 1997, John joined Homestead Studios Suites Hotel as the Executive Vice President of Hotel Operations. John supported multiple hotels across 10 states and played a crucial role in the company's growth.

John's next role was in the SJSU Hospitality Management Program, where they served as a Board Member, Chair of Marketing and Finance, and Adjunct Professor. John provided mentorship to students and taught lodging-related courses.

In 2002, John joined Tarsadia Hotels as an Area General Manager. John successfully managed the pre-opening and renovation of Hilton brand hotels.

From 2002 to 2016, John worked at Evolution Hospitality, starting as a General Manager and eventually becoming an Area General Manager. John achieved strong results in revenue, guest satisfaction, and associate engagement. John also played an active role in industry involvement, serving on the San Diego Tourism Authority and Regional Tourism Marketing committee.

In 2016, John worked as a Hospitality and Construction Management Consultant at SoCal Consulting, where they provided expertise in hospitality and construction management.

From 2017 to 2018, John served as an Area Operations Manager at Excel Hotel Group. John provided operational support to a portfolio of properties and successfully completed the new-build projects.

From 2018 to 2020, John worked as the Vice President of Operations and Guest Service at Twenty Four Seven Hotels, where they managed a growing portfolio of hotels and brands.

Most recently, since 2020, John has been serving as the Regional Director of Operations at Excel Hotel Group.

John Blem attended Southern Oregon University from 1983 to 1987, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a focus on Marketing. During their time at the university, they also completed a minor in Social Science.
