Sal Viavattene

Sal Viavattene has extensive work experience in the IT field. Sal is currently working as the IT Director of Operations at Excellus BCBS, a position they have held since 2023.

Prior to their current role, Sal worked at L3Harris Technologies from 2018 to 2023 as the IT Director – Service Delivery Operations. In this role, they were involved in the merger effort between L3 Technologies and Harris Corporation, where they implemented shared service end user computing support across all locations in the United States. Sal managed a team of 103 technicians providing support to the East coast.

From 2003 to 2018, Sal worked for Harris Corporation in various roles. Initially, they served as the Manager of Desktop Infrastructure & Support, where they were responsible for managing a team of 22 technicians providing computing support to Rochester based employees. Sal also managed a budget for PC and printer replacements. Later, they became the Sr. Manager of End User Computing.

Sal's work experience also includes a role at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) from 2000 to 2003, where they served as the Supervisor of Information Technology. Sal provided network, telecom, and desktop support, and successfully managed a project to replace over 2000 desktop computers at various Nortel Network locations.

Before that, Sal worked at Nortel Networks from 1992 to 2000. Sal served as a Supervisor of Information Technologies, where they managed a team supporting over 700 employees and had responsibilities in budget management and project management. Sal also held the positions of Team Lead, Information Technologies and Systems Administration Specialist, where they provided support for desktop computers and maintained Macintosh servers and network.

Sal's career began in 1989 at Computer Consoles, Incorporated, where they worked as an Electrical Test Technician. In this role, they tested, troubleshooted, and repaired analog and digital system PCBs.

Overall, Sal has a diverse background in IT management and support roles, with experience in budget management, project management, and team leadership.

Sal Viavattene has an educational background in electrical engineering. Sal obtained an Associate in Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Monroe Community College. Additionally, Sal pursued further education at Buffalo State University and earned a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering.
