Penny Dodson has a comprehensive work experience history in the healthcare industry. Penny began their career as an RN at UAMS in 1989 and worked there until 2001. Penny then joined Arkansas Children's as a Sr. Project Manager and remained with the organization for 16 years. Following that, they served as a Nursing Instructor at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith for two years. Subsequently, they worked as a Course Instructor at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing for a year. Penny then transitioned to the role of Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Central Arkansas for a year and afterwards served as an Informatics Nurse at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Most recently, they became the Director of Clinical Informatics at Excelsior Springs Hospital in 2022.
Penny Dodson pursued their education at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing from 2016 to 2018, where they obtained a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree with a specialization in Nursing Education. Prior to their time at Vanderbilt, they attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences from 1998 to 2000, earning a Master of Nursing Science (MNSc) degree in the field of Nursing.
