Pragya Mukherjee began their work experience in 2012 as a Junior Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Pune. Pragya then joined the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit in 2014, where they worked as a Doctoral Research Fellow until 2018. After that, they became a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Medical Research Council from 2018 to 2019. In 2019, they joined Stanford University as a Post Doctoral Fellow and later took on the role of Bio-Sci Career Ambassador from January 2020 to October 2020. Most recently, Pragya Mukherjee joined ExcepGen in June 2021 as a Scientist in R&D.

Pragya Mukherjee completed their Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences from the University of North Bengal in 2010. Pragya then pursued a Master's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Delhi University from 2010 to 2012. After that, they undertook a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Biochemistry at the University of Dundee from 2014 to 2018. During their PhD studies, they were also affiliated with the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit. Following the completion of their PhD, Pragya Mukherjee worked as a Postdoctoral fellow in Biochemistry at Stanford University from 2019 to 2020.
