Part of a wildly neurodiverse family that includes a young child, Nell is a passionate advocate for improving equity in tech and for leveraging the transformative democratic potentials of design thinking. At ELI, she works to center user experience and high-quality data in design decisions.
A mixed-methods researcher and UX evangelist, Nell earned her Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from Rutgers University, where she studied sensory experience as a cornerstone of how people navigate environmental change and communicate across difference. Since then, as a justice studies professor, health researcher, and design consultant, Nell has dedicated her efforts to alleviating inequality and improving opportunity for marginalized populations.
