Excillum
Nirmal Kumar Iyer is an accomplished X-ray Scientist at Excillum since February 2023, with a solid background in astrophysics and physics. Previously, Nirmal served as a Researcher at KTH | Kungliga Tekniska högskolan from April 2017 to December 2022, focusing on telescope development, simulation, analysis, and advanced techniques to enhance telescope capabilities. Nirmal's earlier experience includes a role as a Postdoctoral Researcher where development of C/C++ code for TV set-top boxes and touch screen printers was undertaken at Tech Mahindra between August 2006 and October 2008. Nirmal holds two PhD degrees, one in Astrophysics and another in Physics, both from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) completed between 2009 and 2016.

Excillum was founded in 2007 by researchers from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) Stockholm, Sweden. The first product was market released in 2010, the MetalJet. The unique metal-jet-anode concept of the Excillum x-ray source enables a morethan tenfold increase of x-ray brightness compared to conventional technology.The company is on a mission to enable new science, improve medicine and enhance manufacturing by continous development of state-of-the-art X-ray sources.
