Jeff Smith

Jeff Smith, MBA, CISSP has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of information security. Jeff currently holds an advisory board member position at DallasCISO, where they support CISOs in navigating their roles effectively. Prior to this, they served as the SVP Information Security - CISO at Exeter Finance and as a Manager in Cyber and Data Risk at McKinsey & Company.

Before that, Jeff held leadership roles at various organizations, including Avaya, where they were the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) responsible for implementing information security transformation programs. Jeff also served as the CISO/Director of Security, Risk, & Governance at Direct Energy, where they developed and executed security strategies in alignment with business risk tolerance.

Jeff's experience extends to the American Bureau of Shipping, where they were the Director of IT Operations & Security, overseeing IT security, operations, disaster recovery, and compliance for a large engineering and classification society. Jeff also worked at Kraton Polymers as the Global IT Director, managing IT security, operations, support, and outsourcing.

In the early stages of their career, Jeff held technology leadership roles at JP Morgan Chase, where they contributed to the merger of Institutional Trust to Bank of New York and managed complex business projects and teams. Jeff also worked at Enron Broadband Services as the Director of Enterprise Communications, overseeing various aspects of IT infrastructure.

Jeff Smith obtained a Bachelor's Degree in History from Thomas Edison State University in 2011. Before that, they attended the University of Houston from 1986 to 2006, where they studied History and International Business. In 2012, Jeff earned a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Jeff also acquired various certifications, including CISSP - Certified Information Systems Security Professional, which they obtained in May 2017 from (ISC)². Jeff also passed the HCISPP exam in October 2021 from ISC2. In addition, they hold certifications in project management, network administration, visualization, and various Cisco products. Jeff's education history also includes a Certificate of Advance Network Administration - MCSE Training from Southern Methodist University in 1999, and they graduated from Clear Lake High School.
