Prior to their real estate career, Mary Jane owned and managed two travel agencies—Sayville Travel Agency from May 1992 to January 2001 and Three Village Travel Agency from 1982 to 1994. Additionally, Mary Jane served as Assistant to the Manager at Prudential Insurance Co from 1980 to 1982. Mary Jane holds a general business degree from New Hyde Park Memorial High School, where studies spanned from 1960 to 1964.
