Exogenus Therapeutics
Joana Simões Correia serves as the Executive Director and Chief Scientific Officer at Exogenus Therapeutics since June 2015, focusing on the development of exosome-based therapies for skin lesions, particularly a product derived from Umbilical Cord Blood for chronic wound treatment. Additionally, Joana has held the position of Invited Researcher at the Center for Neurosciences and Cell Biology (CNBC) at the University of Coimbra since January 2016, with a previous postdoctoral role at the same institution from October 2010 to February 2014, and experience as a postdoc at IPATIMUP from September 2009 to February 2014. Joana was an EMBO fellow at the Center for Genomic Regulation briefly in 2009. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Human Biology from the Universidade do Porto and a focus on Circular Economy from IRIS - Incubadora regional de inovação social in 2020.
