Rebecca Wais

Rebecca Wais has extensive experience in the legal field, specializing in intellectual property. Rebecca is currently working as the Chief Legal Officer at ExoPolymer since December 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Vice President, Intellectual Property & Legal Affairs at Tessera Therapeutics from October 2021 to November 2022. Rebecca also worked at Genentech for several years, starting as a Patent Counsel in August 2013 and progressing to roles such as Senior Patent Counsel, Associate Director Assistant General Counsel, and Director, Assistant General Counsel, IP Legal. Before joining Genentech, Rebecca worked as an Attorney at Dechert LLP, specializing in life sciences counseling, from 2008 to 2013. Rebecca started their legal career as an Attorney at Day Casebeer Madrid & Batchelder from 2005 to 2008 and also had a summer associate role at Morrison & Foerster LLP in 2004. Rebecca began their career in the pharmaceutical industry as a Patent Writer at Incyte Pharmaceuticals from 2001 to 2002.

Rebecca Wais attended Stanford University from 1993 to 2000, where they received a PhD in Biological Sciences. Rebecca then went on to attend Stanford Law School from 2002 to 2005, where they obtained a JD degree in Law. Additionally, it is known that they have some association with Brown University, although specifics regarding their degree and field of study are not provided.
