Thomas Bouckenooghe, PhD, is an accomplished professional in the fields of cell and gene therapy, bioprocessing, and vaccine development, with extensive experience in upstream process development and bioreactor technology. Currently serving as USP Development Manager at EXOTHERA since May 2020, Thomas leads process optimization efforts for biopharmaceutical production. Previous roles include Application Development Manager at UNIVERCELLS, overseeing technology validation and contract development for cell and gene therapies, as well as Vaccine Process Development Manager and Bioprocess Engineer, where Thomas contributed significantly to large-scale vaccine production processes. At Macopharma, Thomas held the position of Head of Development, focusing on bioreactor systems and exosome technology, alongside a robust background in academic research, including positions at several universities with a focus on fetal programming and pancreatic cell biology. Thomas holds a PhD in gene research related to beta cell function from the University of Lille 1 and a Master’s degree from the University of Montpellier.
