Michael Davis Velasco is the Chief People, Inclusion & Diversity Officer at Expedia Group. In this role, Michael leads the company’s efforts to elevate underrepresented voices and champions programs to enhance inclusion and diversity for Expedia Group’s employees, customers, partners and communities.
Before joining Expedia Group, Michael advised companies in a variety of industries on matters related to diversity and inclusion, organizational design, leadership development, corporate communications, and executive employment matters. Prior to his advisory work, Michael was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Labor & Employment Counsel at Tribune Media Company. Among his responsibilities at Tribune, Michael oversaw the company’s Diversity and Inclusion efforts, chaired its Diversity and Inclusion Council, and led all Human Resources functions including benefits, compensation, talent acquisition, HRIS, learning & development, employee relations and communications. Michael also led Tribune’s Labor and Employment Law Department.
Prior to joining Tribune, Michael was the Vice President of Labor Relations at NBCUniversal. Among his many responsibilities at NBCU, Michael supported network news and sports, owned and operated stations and late-night entertainment programs. He also oversaw labor relations for Telemundo Network, Studios, International, cable operations, and owned and operated stations throughout the continental United States and Puerto Rico. Before NBCU, Michael practiced law in New York and Mexico City within a variety of disciplines, including corporate transactions, civil litigation, intellectual property and employment law.
Michael co-founded the National Latina/o Law Students Conference and is an advocate for the underrepresented.
