Human Factors Scientist at Exponent

Elizabeth Pettit has a diverse work experience in various fields. Elizabeth worked as a Human Factors Scientist at Exponent, where they evaluated how perception, memory, reaction time, and human information processing impact various situations, such as accidents and risk communication. Elizabeth also analyzed the factors contributing to accidents involving pedestrians, vehicles, and airplanes, as well as the impact of stress and fatigue on drivers' decision-making.

Before that, Elizabeth was a National Defense of Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellow at the United States Department of Defense. Elizabeth also worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Montclair State University, where they remotely presented lectures on judgement and decision making and developed course materials and assessments.

Elizabeth's earlier experience includes working as a Graduate Assistant and Co-Facilitator for an Intergroup Dialogue on Race and Ethnicity at Miami University. Elizabeth also served as a Teaching Assistant for Introductory Psychology Statistics. Additionally, they were a Repperger Summer Research Intern at the Air Force Research Laboratory and a Research Assistant in a Cognitive Psychology Alzheimer's Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Elizabeth Pettit attended Winneconne High School from 2010 to 2014. Following high school, they enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a Certificate in Business from 2014 to 2017. Subsequently, they pursued further education at Miami University, where they earned a Master of Arts degree in Psychology with a Certificate in College Teaching from 2018 to 2021. During this time, they also participated in a workshop called the Summer Institute of Bounded Rationality at the Max Planck Institute in Berlin, Germany, in 2019, focusing on Decision Making. Additionally, they attended the Modeling Heterogeneity Workshop at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2021, specializing in Mathematical Modeling. Currently, Elizabeth is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Cognitive Psychology at Miami University, which they expect to complete in 2023.
