After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida with High Honors, Dr. Baumann received his medical degree from the University of Miami. He completed his medical internship and served his residency in Ophthalmology at the Ochsner Clinic and Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital in New Orleans and a Fellowship in Corneal Transplants and Anterior Segment Surgery at Tulane Medical Center.
He is a clinical instructor for Illinois College of Optometry. He specializes in cataracts and implants and has performed more than 50,000 cases. Dr. Baumann has also served as principal investigator for multiple national research studies, including studies for new and advanced IOL implants. Dr. Baumann is past president of the Lake County Medical Society and has served on the board of directors of The Florida Society of Ambulatory Surgery Centers and the Physician Advisory Board for Amsurg Corporation. He was the co-founder of Advanced Recovery Centers, a national group of alcohol and drug rehab and eating disorders centers. He is also proud to be a volunteer for Eye Care of America for over thirty years providing free care for indigent people. He is also a board member of the Holocaust Memorial Resource & Education Center of Florida. He is board-certified in Ophthalmology.
