Jeffrey B. Setness

Jeffrey B. Setness is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in criminal tax litigation and white-collar crime. Currently serving as a Shareholder at Fabian VanCott since January 2014, Setness represents clients in criminal investigations by the Internal Revenue Service, addressing violations such as income tax evasion and conspiracy to defraud the United States. Prior experience includes roles as an Attorney and Partner at various law firms, where Setness handled criminal investigations, civil litigation, and represented clients in tax-related matters. Notably, Setness served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Nevada, prosecuting federal criminal cases and previously as a Trial Attorney in the DOJ Tax Division, where involvement in significant cases included a $21 million Ponzi scheme. Setness began a legal career in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General's Corps. Education comprises a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UC Santa Barbara.
