Michael Cormier, PhD, MS has worked in the field of bioinformatics since 2015. Michael began their career as a Bioinformatics Research Assistant at Brigham Young University in Dr. Perry Ridge's Lab where they developed algorithms and software to ask and answer biological questions. In 2016, they became a Bioinformatics Contractor and Bioinformatics/Computational Biologist Fellow at Ancestry where they developed software tools to better understand connections between genetics customers and ancestral ties, including community migration and enriched birth locations. Michael also ran statistical analyses on current and future products and assembled pipelines for DNA product research and development. In 2017, they joined the University of Utah School of Medicine as a Computational Genomics Research Associate. In 2022, they moved to Fabric Genomics as a Bioinformatics Scientist: Genomics and Data Science, and also joined Invitae as a Bioinformatics Scientist: Data Science, Engineering, and Algorithms.
Michael Cormier holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Genetics (Computational Genomics) from the University of Utah School of Medicine, a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation from the University of Utah School of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics with a Minor in Computer Science from Brigham Young University.
