Eric Barbour has had a diverse work experience. Eric began their career in 2015 as a Backend Developer for MYLAMP, where they developed and maintained a RESTful API for the company's multiple mobile and web applications written in PHP. Eric also created and wrote filtering and sorting algorithms for displaying user analytics from the database. In the same year, they were a Developer Intern for the Center for Open Science, where they worked as a Python and JavaScript web developer, increasing the size of the public facing, REST API by 20%. Eric also developed a research registration interface that generated forms and validated against JSON Schemas using Knockout.js. In 2016, they were a Fedora Development Intern for Red Hat. In 2017, they began working for WillowTree as a Senior Software Engineer, Platform Software Engineer, and Software Engineer. Finally, in 2021, they began working for Fabric as a Software Engineer.

Eric Barbour attended the University of Virginia from 2013 to 2017, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Arabic Language and Literature.
