Hesam Hekmatjou MD, MBA-MHM has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Starting in 1998, they worked as a Student Research Assistant at USC School of Pharmacy. In 2002, they joined California State University, Northridge as a Research Assistant. Following this, in 2014, they volunteered as a Clinical Research Volunteer specializing in Hematology/Oncology at Weill Cornell Medical College.

In 2015, Hesam began their medical career as a Resident Physician at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where they stayed until 2018. During this time, they also served as a QxMD Ambassador for QxMD, a company that specializes in developing medical software and digital solutions for healthcare professionals.

After completing their undergraduate studies, Hesam pursued a career in the medical field. From 2009 to 2014, they attended St. George's University, where they obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with a focus on Medicine and Health. During this time, they also obtained an ECFMG certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates in January 2014.

Seeking further knowledge in the healthcare management sector, Hesam enrolled in St. George's University once again, this time from 2014 to 2017, to pursue a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Multisector Healthcare Management (MHM).

In addition to their academic degrees, Hesam has obtained various certifications to enhance their expertise. In November 2018, they became a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine. Furthermore, in February 2020, Hesam achieved the title of Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
