Thomas Malkmus

Thomas Malkmus currently serves as the Leitung Planung und Realisierung at the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe GmbH since January 2024. Prior to this role, Malkmus was a Senior Projekt Manager and Projektleiter at DB Station & Service AG, where involvement included leading the Großprojekt Empfangsgebäude Hbf Heidelberg from December 2021 to April 2024. Malkmus also held various positions at Fraport AG from June 2001 to March 2021, including Senior Projekt Manager in Airport Planning and roles in Zentralen Infrastrukturmanagement and Airport Retailing. Earlier in the career, Malkmus worked as a Dipl. Ing. Architekt at J.S.K Architekten from January 2000 to May 2001. Malkmus earned a Diplom-Ingenieur in Architecture from Hochschule Anhalt between 1994 and 1999.

Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe GmbH

FAIR, Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research, is a new international accelerator facility for the research with antiprotons and ions. It will be built in cooperation of an international community of countries and scientists. On October, 4th 2010, the international owners founded the FAIR GmbH and the countries'​ representatives signed a treaty under international law (Convention, Final Act). The facility will be financed by a joint international effort of so far ten member states. The Federal Republic of Germany together with the State of Hesse is the major contributor to the construction, the current nine international partners - Finland, France, India, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden and the United Kingdom - bear ca. 30% of the construction cost. FAIR will be a host laboratory for basic research for about 3000 scientists from about 50 countries.
