Alex Clibbon

Alex Clibbon has a work experience spanning over a decade, with their most recent position being the Lead Data Scientist at Faculty, starting in 2022. In this role, they are part of a healthcare and life sciences division, mentoring team members and leading delivery projects that involve the deployment of machine learning and artificial intelligence (ML/AI) into client infrastructures.

Prior to joining Faculty, Alex worked at Kantar as a Lead Data Scientist from 2018 to 2022. During this time, they worked in the unstructured data team, using machine learning to analyze text and image data from various sources. Alex also managed the development and rollout of STAN, a toolkit deployed globally. In addition, they collaborated with the Future of Marketing Institute to build new capabilities related to trend detection and measuring the impact of sustainable development goals on consumer behavior.

Before Kantar, Alex worked at Echobox as a Data Science Engineer from 2015 to 2018. Here, they utilized state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to analyze publishing trends and perform content-aware classification and distribution of online content.

From 2014 to 2015, Alex was a Lead Software Engineer at Peared, where they were involved in developing a smart earpiece for seniors, incorporating hearing improvement, health monitoring, and memory assistance functionalities.

In 2015, they also worked at The World Bank as a Data Scientist, focusing on expanding and developing a prototype SMS warranty management system for a larger proposal with members from Ethiopia.

Earlier in their career, Alex was a Data Science Fellow at The ASI, participating in a post-doctoral training program in data science and business analytics. Alex received training in various data science tools and technologies and received mentoring in machine learning and data streaming.

Alex's academic background includes roles as a lab demonstrator at the University of Oxford. Alex served as an Engineering Computation Lab Demonstrator in the CDT DPhil Programme, and also as a P5 Computational Methods Lab Demonstrator, aiding first-year undergraduate students in developing computational skills using Matlab.

Alex Clibbon attended Reading School from 1999 to 2006. From 2006 to 2010, they pursued their Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Oxford. Alex then continued their education at the University of Oxford, completing a CDT DPhil in Healthcare Innovation in the field of Biomedical/Medical Engineering from 2011 to 2015.
