Paul Maltby has a diverse work experience in the government and public sector. Paul is currently working as the Director of AI Transformation in Government at Faculty since November 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Chief Digital Officer at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities from September 2021 to November 2022. From January 2017 to September 2021, they held the position of Chief Digital Officer at the Department for Communities and Local Government. Before that, they worked as the Director of Data at the Government Digital Service (GDS) from January 2015 to January 2017, leading a cross-government program on data improvement and transformation. Paul moved from the Cabinet Office, where they served as the Director of Open Data and Government Innovation from June 2013 to January 2015, and as the Director of Open Data and Transparency from January 2013 to January 2015. Prior to that, they worked as a Programme Director at Leicestershire County Council, Director of Strategy at the Home Office, and Deputy Director at the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit in the Cabinet Office. Paul started their career as the Head of Public Private Partnerships team at IPPR from 2001 to 2003.

Paul Maltby holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree from King's College, University of Cambridge.
