Camilla Houeland

Researcher at Fafo

Camilla Houeland is an Associate Professor II at the University of Oslo since September 2022 and also serves as a Researcher at Fafo from April 2022. Previously, Camilla held positions as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oslo from September 2018 to April 2022 and as an Independent Consultant until April 2022. Camilla was a Visiting Researcher at the University of Edinburgh's Center for African Studies in 2021 and completed a Ph.D. Fellowship at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences between October 2011 and December 2017. Additionally, Camilla has international experience as a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University from August 2014 to June 2015. Camilla has also contributed to the Socialist Left Party as a member of the International Committee from 2008 to 2013 and served as an Africa adviser for LO-Norway from October 2006 to October 2011, alongside board membership at Internasjonal Reporter from 2006 to 2009. Educational qualifications include an M.Phil in Political Science from the University of Oslo, a Diploma in African Studies from the University of Cape Town, and a Cand.Mag in Comparative Politics from the University of Bergen.
