Garrett Van Curen is an experienced educator currently serving as a Professor of Writing and Writing Instructor in the First-Year Writing Program at Montclair State University since January 2023. With a strong background in teaching English and Communications at Fair Lawn Public Schools since September 2013, Garrett focuses on designing comprehensive lesson plans aligned with educational standards and fostering critical skills in 9th and 10th grade students. Additional experience includes roles as an English Tutor with ClubZ! In-Home Tutoring, an SAT and ELL Tutor at Quest Academy, and a Certified Substitute Teacher in Hasbrouck Heights. Garrett holds a Master of Arts in English Language and Literature from Montclair State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English and American Literature from Hofstra University, complemented by a diverse professional background that includes management and educational research.
