Melissa Lafsky has over 12 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, branding, and people operations. Melissa began their career in 2007 as an Editor for the Freakonomics Blog at the New York Times Digital. In 2008, they were a Deputy Web Editor at Discover Magazine and a Film Columnist at The Awl. In 2010, they were a Consultant for Branded Content Launches, overseeing launch plans, content strategy and creation, editorial development, hiring and staffing, and social media strategy. From 2011 to 2013, they were an Editor for Newsweek/The Daily Beast, where they were the founding editor of the iPad edition, managed all aspects of the iPad relaunch, and managed the development and launch of mobile, Android, and 7" tablet editions. From 2013 to 2016, they were the Founder and President of Brick Wall Media. From 2014 to 2018, they were an Instructor at General Assembly. During this time, they were also the Founder and Principal at Storyline Consulting, where they worked with founders, executives, and leaders to craft storylines, build narratives, and generate movements. In 2020, they began their current role as the Head of Marketing/Comms/Branding/People Ops at FairPlay AI.

Melissa Lafsky attended Dartmouth College from 1996 to 2000, graduating with a BA in English Literature. Melissa then attended the University of Virginia School of Law from 2001 to 2004, where they earned their JD.
