Staff DSP Engineer at Fairwinds Technologies

Pavlo Bobrek has a strong background in engineering and technical roles. Pavlo began their career at Loral Data Systems in 1981, where they served as a Senior Principal Engineer and Hardware Development Manager/Team Leader. During their tenure there, they played a significant role in defining the ATM Switch Architecture for ATM Wide Area Network and developing DS-3, OC-3, and OC-12 physical layer interfaces.

In 1995, Pavlo joined IPC Systems, Inc. as a Senior Principal Engineer. Pavlo then went on to found their own company, Virtual Engineering Services, Inc., in 1996, where they served as the President and Founder. During this time, they worked on several projects including designing and implementing a modem for Peek Traffic Systems, as well as developing a Frame Relay/voice Mini-groomer Architecture for Carrier Access Corp.

Pavlo later joined Cisco Systems, Inc. in 1999 as a Technical Lead. In this role, they made significant contributions to the architecture of the next generation Cisco Catalyst 6500 Terabit/sec Ethernet Switches. Pavlo was also involved in MATLAB simulation and analysis of the Switch Fabric with the Virtual Output Queues' flow control scheme.

In 2009, Pavlo joined GE Aviation Systems as a Senior Staff Engineer/Technologist Avionics Systems. Their responsibilities in this role included working on various projects such as AFDX data set switches, software-defined radios, and UAV communication and control. Pavlo also gained expertise in FPGA design using Xilinx Zu9, Altera Aria, and MicroSemi SF2/IGLOO2.

Most recently, Pavlo joined Fairwinds Technologies in 2020 as a Staff DSP Engineer. In this position, they focus on adaptive phase aligning and coherent combining of SATCOM signals from separate antenna sources. Pavlo is also involved in DSP filter design and the development of half-band decimation and interpolation filters.

Pavlo Bobrek obtained a High School Diploma from Windham High School from 1971 to 1974. Later, from 1974 to 1978, they attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, but the specific degree and field of study are not mentioned. Lastly, they pursued a PhD in Communication and Signal Processing from the University of South Florida, completing their studies from 1986 to 1994.
