Mark Dhooge has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Mark started their career as a Deputy Sheriff at the Marquette County Sheriff's Department in 1989 and served as a Road Patrol Deputy until 1992. Mark then worked as a Counselor at Teaching-Family Homes of Upper Michigan, providing 24-hour group care to troubled adolescents. In 1994, they joined Kids In Distress Inc. as President/CEO, overseeing a wide range of child and family services. In 2009, they co-founded Genesis Photography, specializing in weddings and creative headshots. In 2019, they became President/CEO of Family Central Inc., a non-profit organization focused on family strengthening and early learning. Overall, Mark has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving and supporting children, families, and communities throughout their career.
Mark Dhooge completed their high school education at White Pine High School, earning a diploma in 1986. Mark then went on to pursue higher education at Northern Michigan University from 1986 to 1990. During this time, they focused on a variety of fields including criminal justice, conservation, and biology. Mark successfully completed their studies at Northern Michigan University, attaining a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree.

Family Central Inc. (FCI) is a comprehensive, accredited, and multi-cultural social service agency serving children and families in South Florida. Our Mission: to promote children's success by providing quality family support and educational services. Founded in 1971, FCI, a 501 (c) 3, is a key player in early learning, providing a broad range of services to meet the complex needs of young children and their families. FCI is an important partner in the school readiness system. FCI's Family Support Services provide counseling and training with the objectives to increase the skills and capacity of parents to care for their children, reduce abuse/neglect and improve family functioning. FCI has long recognized that child care programs need to be of high quality. Committed to helping teachers and families develop safe, nurturing, and developmentally-appropriate environments that promote a child’s brain development, and social/emotional cognitive and physical growth. FCI offers a variety of evidence-based, best practice programs that build a teachers capacity to provide quality child care for the community’s most vulnerable children and strengthen parents’ capacity to nurture their children.
