Shasta Pickens is a seasoned nursing professional with extensive experience in various clinical roles. Currently serving as Nursing Supervisor and Vaccine Coordinator at Family Health Center since August 2008, Shasta also holds the position of Clinical Team Lead at Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs, MSDH, since February 2019. Previous experience includes RN Charge Nurse at Comfort Care Nursing Center from October 2017 to January 2019 and LPN at Family Health Center from July 2001 to February 2006, specializing as a clinic nurse in Pediatrics. Shasta's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Delta State University and an Associate of Science in Nursing from Meridian Community College, complemented by studies at Jones College and The University of Southern Mississippi.

Created in 1971, Family Health Center's mission is to provide excellent health care to anyone who walks through our doors, regardless of their income level or insurance benefits. Our board-certified physicians are specialists in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology and dental. Our mid-level providers allow us to accommodate acute and same-day appointments to avoid overuse of emergency rooms. Our mission is to ensure quality health care with dignity for all of Kalamazoo county. Currently, our patients number more than 50,000 a year.
