Preston Purnell has worked in various roles and companies since 2011. Preston started as a Customer Service Representative at Vivint in April 2011 and worked until October of the same year. In 2014, they worked as an Instructor and a Zone Coordinator at Missionary Training Center. Since 2015, they worked at GLOBALEZ LLC as a Software Sales Manager (until February 2018) and later as a Product Owner & Partner (February 2018 until February 2019). Preston also worked as a Freelance UX/UI Designer from April 2017 until February 2018. In 2018, they joined Pando Development as a Product Owner, and in May 2021, they joined Family Hotline as a Product Owner.

Preston Purnell obtained a Bachelor's degree in Spanish from Brigham Young University from 2011 to 2015. In 2017, they studied UX Design at Devmountain but did not obtain a degree. Preston also obtained a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification from Scrum Alliance in December 2022. Additionally, they received a Spanish Language Certificate from the American Council on The Teaching of Foreign Languages, but the obtained month and year were not specified.
