Sam Miller

West Coast Partnerships Coordinator at UpTogether

Sam (they/them) is UpTogether’s first ever West Coast Partnerships Coordinator. They are passionate about the intersections of social justice work and community building, and creating spaces where members of historically undervalued communities can thrive.

Previously, Sam was an employee of the Los Angeles LGBT Center, working with the Center’s volunteer community and external partners. They assisted with the creation of multiple projects in response to COVID-19, including a food pantry which served over 400 households per week throughout the pandemic. Sam also played a key role in consulting with external partners on better serving transgender and nonbinary individuals. Their guidance led to the Los Angeles Marathon becoming the first major race to allow runners to register with a nonbinary gender marker. Sam continues to volunteer for the Center’s Trans* Lounge program, facilitating virtual community groups and serving on the organizing committee for Trans Pride Los Angeles.
