Julie Avery has a diverse work experience in the nursing field. Julie is currently working at Family Planning as the Director of Nursing since January 2023. Prior to this role, they were a Nurse Practitioner at the same organization. Before joining Family Planning, Julie worked as a Nurse Practitioner at Auckland Medical Aid Centre from May 2021 to January 2023. Julie also has experience at Waitematā District Health Board Women's Health, where they held various roles, including Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Practitioner Intern in Women's Health, and CNS Early Pregnancy Clinic from 2017 to 2022. Julie's earlier experience includes working as a Regional Nurse Advisor at Family Planning from 2007 to 2017 and as a Nurse ED at Auckland DHB from 2005 to 2009.
Julie Avery has a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Kent, which they obtained from 1992 to 1996. Julie later earned a Graduate Diploma in Nursing from King's College London from 1997 to 1999. In 2012, they completed their Master of Nursing degree in Advanced nursing practice from Massey University. Additionally, in 2013, they obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences from the University of Auckland.
