Shari Competiello has a diverse work experience. Shari started their career as a Judicial Law Clerk for the State of NJ Judiciary in 1994. Shari then worked as an Associate Attorney at Bendit Weinstock, P.A. from 1995 to 1998, followed by a role as an Associate Attorney at Waters, McPherson, McNeill, P.C. from 1998 to 1999. In 2016, Shari joined Family Promise, Inc. as an Office Manager and later became the Chief Of Staff. Shari then served as the Acting Chief Executive Officer before assuming their current role as the Chief Operating Officer in 2023.
Shari Competiello holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from Rutgers Law School, which they obtained from 1991 to 1994. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business Administration and Management, General at the University at Albany, SUNY, from 1987 to 1991. In addition to their formal education, Shari Competiello has obtained several certifications, including a SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification from SHRM in July 2022, a Professional Certificate in Human Resource Management from Rutgers Business School in May 2020, and a Health Coach Certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in May 2015.

Family Promise is based in Summit, New Jersey, where we began our work in 1988, founded on the belief that Americans are compassionate people who want to make a difference. Today we have more than 200 Affiliates in 43 states, with more in development. Family Promise is a leader in promoting volunteerism and has served as a model of American volunteerism in the U. S. and abroad. Our programs involve 180,000 volunteers nationwide who provide assistance to more than 50,000 family members annually. Family Promise was chosen to receive one of 21 Points of Light awards out of a field of more than 4,500 nominees.
