Ramon Chavez has a diverse range of work experience in the mental health field. Ramon started their career at Pawnee Mental Health Services as an Attendant Care Provider in 2007. In 2007, they joined Family Service & Guidance Center as a Mental Health Specialist, where they worked until 2011. During this time, they gained valuable experience supporting individuals with mental health issues. At Family Service & Guidance Center, they progressed to the role of Crisis Attendant Care Supervisor, where they demonstrated strong leadership skills and actively promoted the organization's vision and mission. In 2021, they took on the role of Crisis Operations Manager, providing administrative and clinical leadership to a team of supervisors, case managers, providers, and interns. Ramon has a proven track record of maintaining client confidentiality, maintaining safe staffing levels, and ensuring compliance with licensing regulations.
Ramon Chavez completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Kansas State University, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. Ramon then pursued a Master of Science degree in Psychology at Washburn University from 2007 to 2008.
In addition to their formal education, Ramon has obtained several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge in mental health and behavioral management. In 2013, they completed the Middle Management Academy at the National Council for Behavioral Health. Ramon further expanded their expertise by obtaining certifications such as Mental Health First Aid Trainer from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing in January 2022, Managing Aggressive Behavior (MAB) National Instructor from the University of Oklahoma in September 2021, and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) from LivingWorks in November 2019. Ramon also holds certifications in CPR and First Aid from the American Heart Association, which they obtained in December 2019.
Most recently, in March 2023, Ramon acquired the certification in Mental Health First Aid for Youth from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. These certifications indicate Ramon's dedication to staying updated on best practices and their commitment to supporting individuals in need of mental health support.

Family Service & Guidance Center (FSGC) is dedicated to meeting the unique mental health needs of children and families and providing training opportunities for behavioral health professionals. FSGC was established in 1904 to help Topeka flood victims. As the needs in our community have changed, so has our focus. Today, Family Service & Guidance Center’s experts work closely to provide carefully tailored direct clinical services, prevention education and outreach to nearly 12,000 children and teens living with anxiety, depression, ADHD and other mental health issues and their families from 38 Kansas counties each year. FSGC is a recognized leader in children's mental health, employing 260 staff members on a centralized three-building campus and a Crisis Resolution Program building. Family Service & Guidance Center offers a broad range of services, including outpatient therapy; child and adolescent psychiatry; an anxiety treatment program; a therapeutic preschool for children ages 2-6 with severe emotional and behavioral problems; the Youth Development Program for school-age children and teens; crisis services available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; Families Supporting Recovery for adolescents dealing with mental illness and substance use issues; community-based services, including case management; Transitions to Adulthood Program for young adults with mental illness; and the popular Happy Bear abuse prevention program.
