Matthew Larson is a seasoned design and software engineering professional with extensive experience in frontend development and design system leadership. Currently serving as the Design System Lead Engineer at FamilySearch since September 2017, Matthew oversees the development of an organization-wide frontend design system and facilitates collaboration between UX designers and developers. Previously, Matthew held key positions at FamilySearch as a Senior Frontend Developer and Senior Software Engineer, contributing to architectural vision and the enhancement of production tools. As the Founder and Creative Director of Czar Theory, Matthew managed teams and provided training in design and development. Additional experience includes freelance design and development work, exhibit design at Brigham Young University, and an internship at Mondoro. Matthew began a career in software development and drafting at New Horizons Telecom, where significant cost reductions were achieved through automation. Matthew holds a BFA in Industrial Design from Brigham Young University.
