Laura Maria Andrade de Oliveira is an accomplished microbiologist with extensive experience in infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. Currently serving as an ISID Emerging Leader in International Infectious Diseases at the International Society for Infectious Diseases, Laura also holds the position of Postdoctoral Fellow at FAPERJ. Previous roles include ASM Young Ambassador of Science to Brazil and Chair of the Young Leaders Circle Committee at the American Society for Microbiology, where Laura contributed to empowering early career microbiologists. Participation in the Future Leaders Against Antimicrobial Resistance Programme with The Foundation to Prevent Antibiotic Resistance and postdoctoral fellowships at notable academic institutions further highlight Laura's commitment to research and education in microbiology. Laura's academic background includes a Doutorado in Medical Microbiology and Bacteriology from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and earlier degrees from Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora.
