Naomi Martisius is a Senior Archaeologist at Far Western Anthropological Research Group, Inc. since June 2023. Prior to this role, Martisius served as an NSF SBE Postdoctoral Researcher at The University of Tulsa from January 2021 to December 2022, focusing on the evolutionary development of animal-derived technologies. Martisius also conducted research at the Max-Planck-Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology as a Postdoctoral Researcher, analyzing bone tools and personal ornaments from Bacho Kiro Cave, and has published significant findings in notable journals. As a Fulbright US Postdoctoral Scholar, Martisius studied Upper Paleolithic artifacts using microscopic methods. Educationally, Martisius earned a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Anthropology and a B.S. in Anthropology from the University of California, Davis, where experiences included roles as an Associate Instructor and Teaching Assistant.
