Nandini Pal Basak

Director R&D India at Farcast Biosciences

Nandini Pal Basak has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Nandini Pal began their career as a Senior Research Fellow at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, where they conducted doctoral research focused on the alteration of the mitochondrial proteome due to the activation of the Notch Signaling pathway. Nandini Pal developed protocols for mitochondrial isolation, analyzed protein expression using 2D-DIGE and mass spectrometry, and validated the results using various cell biology and genetic tools. During this time, they also worked on projects related to hematopoietic cell differentiation, cancer cell metastasis, and T cell activation.

Following their research fellowship, Nandini joined the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research as a Visiting Fellow. In this role, they studied the acyl modification of proteins in metabolically relevant tissues such as muscle and liver. Nandini Pal employed click chemistry and mass spectrometry approaches to identify fatty acylated proteins.

Nandini Pal then moved on to the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (inStem), where they served as a Postdoctoral Fellow. During their time at inStem, Nandini's research focused on stem cells and regenerative medicine.

In 2016, Nandini joined Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Field Application Scientist III. In this position, they provided pre-sales and post-sales support for flow cytometry and high content imaging instruments, catering to the pan India and South Asia market.

Since 2017, Nandini has been working at Farcast Biosciences. Nandini Pal started as the Senior Scientist and Flow Cytometry Group Lead, where they built the department from scratch. Their responsibilities included managing the facility and procurement, designing and executing experiments for biopharma clients and internal R&D projects, preparing project reports, and supporting the technical liaison team in responding to client queries. Nandini Pal also actively recruited personnel for the department, provided training, and developed standard operating procedures. Later, they were promoted to the role of Principal Scientist and Manager, leading a team of 7 scientists and overseeing the design and delivery of projects for biopharma clients. Presently, they hold the position of Director R&D India at Farcast Biosciences.

In summary, Nandini Pal Basak has a strong background in scientific research and has held various technical and managerial roles in prestigious organizations. Their expertise lies in flow cytometry, cytokine assays, protein analysis, stem cells, and regenerative medicine. Nandini Pal has a proven track record of leading teams, delivering projects, and providing support to clients in the biopharma industry.

Nandini Pal Basak's education history consists of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Bethune College, University of Calcutta, which was obtained from 2002 to 2005. From 2005 to 2007, they pursued a Master's Degree in Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Following this, from 2007 to 2008, they completed a PostMSc. Associate of Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, specializing in Biophysical Sciences, at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics. Finally, from 2008 to 2014, Nandini Pal Basak obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Life Science and Biotechnology from the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics.
