Paul Mockapetris has extensive work experience in the field of technology and cybersecurity. Paul currently serves as the Chief Scientist Board Member at ThreatSTOP, Inc. since October 2015. Prior to that, they worked as the Director at Farsight Security, Inc. starting in 2013. In addition, they have held advisory roles at Coinweb.io, Acorn Technology, LignUp, timetra, and UrbanMedia. Paul also served as the Chairman & Chief Scientist at Nominum, Inc. from 2001 to 2015. Paul Mockapetris has also contributed to academia as a Visiting Scholar at Universite Pierre et Marie Curie from 2009 to 2017 and as a member of ICANN's Identifier Technology Strategy Pannel from 2013 to 2015.
Paul Mockapetris earned their Ph.D. in Information and Computer Science from UC Irvine, which they completed between 1973 and 1982. Prior to this, they attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1966 to 1971, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Electrical Engineering. Before entering college, they attended Boston Latin School from 1960 to 1966, where they acquired their high school education. During their time at Boston Latin School, they primarily focused on the subjects of Latin, Physics, and Chemistry.
