Michael Utecht M.D., Facep

Michael Utecht, MD, FACEP has extensive experience in emergency medicine. Michael worked as an Attending Physician at VA Hospital Durham, where they provided direct patient care and trained students and residents from Duke University School of Medicine. Michael also served as an Emergency Department Director at Person Memorial Hospital, where they successfully implemented Lean principles to improve efficiency and reduce wait times. Dr. Utecht was an Attending Physician and Director at Wake Emergency Physicians, PA, leading patient care in multiple hospitals and managing a group of Board Certified Emergency Physicians. Currently, they hold the position of Regional Medical Director at FastMed Urgent Care.

Michael Utecht, MD, FACEP completed their education in a chronological order. Michael began by obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology from Michigan State University from 1980 to 1984. Subsequently, they attended Wayne State University School of Medicine from 1984 to 1988, where they earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Following this, Dr. Utecht pursued their postgraduate training and completed an Emergency Medicine Residency at LAC/USC School of Medicine from 1988 to 1992.

In addition to their formal education, Dr. Utecht has obtained various certifications. These include Medical Examiner Certification from the U.S. Department of Transportation, which they acquired in January 2019. Michael has also obtained certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Cardiac Life Support from the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association. Furthermore, Dr. Utecht holds a certification as a Disaster Medical Specialist from FEMA. However, there is no information available regarding their certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support or Neonatal Advance Life Support.
