Lead Backend Engineer at fastP.A.Y.E

Pedro Coutinho's work experience starts in 2014 with their first professional position as a Full-stack web developer at Kiwit Digital Solutions. In this role, they were responsible for server management, database administration, backend programming, frontend programming, and integration with third-party services.

In 2016, Pedro joined Nodes as a PHP Developer, where they built PHP backends for mobile and web applications, including content management systems and APIs. Pedro was later promoted to Senior Backend Developer and worked with the cutting-edge framework Vapor, along with continuing to handle PHP projects.

In 2017, Pedro joined ShopWorks as a Software Developer to gain more knowledge about development workflows. Pedro learned about GIT and adopted Test Driven Development practices. Pedro eventually became the Lead Backend Engineer, leading the HR integrations team and collaborating with the AI team to integrate products.

Most recently, Pedro joined fastP.A.Y.E as a Lead Backend Engineer in 2019. Pedro led the team through a transition from a Kubernetes-based architecture to a Serverless Architecture, reducing infrastructure costs and improving scalability. Additionally, they contributed to planning new features for the FastPAYE product alongside the product team.

Pedro Coutinho holds a Licentiate degree in Information Systems and Software, which they obtained from Universidade da Maia - UMAIA from 2011 to 2014. Prior to that, they completed their high school education at Escola Secundária Rocha Peixoto from 2005 to 2008, specializing in Curso Tecnológico de Informática. In addition to their formal education, Pedro also obtained certifications in various programming languages and frameworks, including Express.js, JavaScript, AngularJS, and Bootstrap, from Code School.
