Matthew Jones has a strong background in catastrophe risk management and product development. Matthew is currently serving as the Chief Product Officer at Fathom, a position they began in January 2022. Prior to this, Matthew was the Head of Catastrophe Risk Products at Nasdaq from October 2018 to January 2022. Matthew also held the role of Director at Cat Risk Intelligence from December 2014 to September 2018.

Before joining Cat Risk Intelligence, Matthew worked at Zurich Financial Services for a significant period of their career. From July 2010 to November 2014, they served as the Global Head of Catastrophe Management, where they were responsible for establishing a dedicated R&D focus, leading Zurich's Cat risk management and interacting with rating agencies and regulators. Prior to this role, they held the position of Europe GI Catastrophe Manager from 2005 to 2010, and Actuarial Manager from 2000 to 2005, both within Zurich Financial Services.

Matthew's career in the insurance industry began at St Paul Reinsurance, where they worked as a Pricing Actuary from 1997 to 2000.

Throughout their career, Matthew has demonstrated expertise in risk management, underwriting, pricing, and planning. Matthew is also an experienced presenter, having delivered presentations at industry conferences and co-authored an industry publication on non-modeled risks in 2014.

Matthew Jones completed their education in a chronological manner, with their earliest degree being a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Physics from the University of Nottingham. Matthew attended this institution from 1990 to 1993. Following that, they pursued a PhD in Oceanography at UCL, where they studied from 1993 to 1997. Lastly, they obtained a degree in Actuarial Science from the Institute of Actuaries, earning the qualification of Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA) between 1997 and 2001.
