Shannon Blackburn's work experience includes serving as the Principal for Fayette County Public Schools (KY) starting in 2018. Prior to that, they were a District Title 1 Instructional Coach and Assistant Principal (PGES Coach) for the same school district. Before joining Fayette County Public Schools, Blackburn worked as a Curriculum Coach for the district from 2013 to 2015. Shannon also has experience as a Building Instructional Coach for Fort Wayne Community Schools from 2010 to 2013 and as a Third Grade Teacher for Southwest Allen County Schools from 2009 to 2010. Additionally, Blackburn worked as a 3rd/4th Grade Teacher for Columbia Public Schools from 2006 to 2009.
Shannon Blackburn earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Physical Therapy/Therapist from Truman State University between 1995 and 2000. Later on, Shannon pursued a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri-Columbia from 2003 to 2006. Finally, Shannon completed a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from Eastern Kentucky University between 2014 and 2015.
