Maja Permerup is an experienced professional in peace and human security, currently serving as the Team Leader for West and Central Africa at Sida since May 2021, where leadership encompasses support for embassies in the region. Maja has also held roles as a Policy Specialist and Team Coordinator within the same team, concentrating on strategic policy development. Additionally, Maja is a Senior Desk Officer for Civil Society Support at FBA, leading initiatives in peace and security. Prior experience includes serving as a Coordination Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at the United Nations in Rwanda and various management roles at Rädda Barnen where significant partnerships and grant management were established. Maja's early career included significant roles in PME development and country representation in Latin America. Maja holds a Master's degree in Political Science and Government and a Bachelor's degree in Cultural and Economic Geography from Lund University, along with additional education in Spain.

FBA (Folke Bernadotte Academy)

The Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) is the Swedish government agency for peace, security and development. FBA supports international peace operations and international development cooperation. The agency conducts training, research and method development in order to strengthen peacebuilding and statebuilding in conflict and post-conflict countries. We also recruit civilian personnel and expertise for peace operations and election observation missions led by the EU, UN and OSCE.
