Daniel Siu

Director & Actuary, Predictive Analytics at FCCI Insurance Group

Daniel Siu has a strong background in actuarial work, with a focus on predictive analytics. Daniel started their career as an Actuarial Assistant at FCCI Insurance Group in August 2011 and gradually progressed through different roles within the company. Daniel served as an Actuarial Analyst from February 2014 to June 2015, and then worked as a Senior Actuarial Analyst from June 2015 to May 2016. Following that, they became an Associate Actuary from May 2016 to August 2018, and then an Actuary from August 2018 to December 2020. In their most recent role at FCCI Insurance Group, which began in December 2020, they served as the Manager of Predictive Modeling until February 2023. Currently, they hold the position of Director & Actuary, Predictive Analytics.

Prior to joining FCCI Insurance Group, Daniel worked as a Graduate Teaching Associate at the University of South Florida from August 2007 to August 2011.

Daniel Siu completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mathematics at National Central University from 2000 to 2004. Daniel then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mathematics at The University of Texas at Arlington from 2005 to 2007 but transferred to the University of South Florida (USF). At USF, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Statistics from 2007 to 2012.

In terms of additional certifications, Daniel completed the Statistical Learning course with Distinction from Stanford Online in April 2015. Daniel later became a Fellow in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) in June 2018 and obtained the Certified Specialist in Predictive Analytics certification from The CAS Institute in October 2018. Furthermore, in December 2022, they earned the edX Certificate for Data Structures and Algorithms. Most recently, in January 2023, Daniel completed the Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera.
