Kwane Stewart

Chief Veterinary Professional Relations Officer at Fear Free

As Fear Free’s Chief Veterinary Professional Relations Officer, Dr. Kwane Stewart brings more than 25 years of experience as a veterinarian including shelter work, nonprofit, emergency, and even protecting animals on film sets as Netflix’s veterinarian.

After graduating from Colorado State University’s renowned Veterinary Program in 1997, he left his home in the high desert of New Mexico and moved to San Diego, where he began living out his dream of helping animals.

Over the last 12 years, Dr. Kwane has dedicated much of his life to his veterinary street work, giving free medical care to the pets of the unhoused. That amazing work led him to co-found Project Street Vet in 2020, a charity that provides free care, treatment, and support to the pets of individuals experiencing homelessness and/or housing vulnerability.

Creating an empathetic and stress-free environment for pets and their loving parents in every interaction is at the core of everything Dr. Kwane does. He hopes to be a bridge between his compassionate and inspiring work in the streets and the professional care delivered in a clinical setting, helping to ensure pets to always receive the emotional support they deserve.
