Petrina Dawson

Petrina Dawson is a seasoned legal and regulatory expert with extensive experience in the financial services industry. Currently serving as a Senior CFI Policy Specialist and Senior Cross Border Coordination Specialist at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) since May 2009, Petrina focuses on domestic and cross-border resolution and policy issues, including derivatives policy and funding strategies. Prior roles at the FDIC include Chief of the Americas Section and Counsel for Receivership Policy, where Petrina provided critical legal advice on a range of regulatory matters. Previously, at Standard & Poor's from 1991 to 2008, Petrina held positions as Senior Managing Director & General Counsel, overseeing legal compliance in credit ratings, and Managing Director & Associate General Counsel, where responsibilities included transaction ratings and developing rating criteria. Early legal experience was gained as an Associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. Academically, Petrina holds a JD from Yale Law School and a BA in Physics and Mathematics from Swarthmore College.
