Wayne Baskin

Wayne Baskin is a seasoned professional in disaster safety and incident management, currently serving as the Lead Federal Disaster Safety Officer at FEMA since January 2014, where responsibilities include advising the Federal Coordinating Officer and overseeing safe disaster operations for Presidentially declared disasters, including Hurricane Helene. Baskin holds extensive experience as a Federal Disaster Safety Officer Type 1 and has instructed at the FEMA Incident Workforce Academy. Previous roles include Deputy Chief and Chief of Staff for the FDNY, during which significant contributions were made to major incidents such as the World Trade Center attacks and Hurricane Katrina. Educational qualifications include graduate-level training in Counterterrorism Operations from Columbia Business School and military training from the United States Military Academy at West Point, complemented by studies at various community and university institutions.
