Federal Public Defender
David Wicclair is an experienced legal professional currently serving as an Assistant Federal Public Defender since October 2018. Prior to this role, Wicclair held positions as a Staff Attorney at North Carolina Prisoner Legal Services, Inc. and as a Research and Writing Attorney at the Federal Public Defender. Wicclair's earlier experience includes serving as an Assistant Defender at the Defender Association of Philadelphia, where representation of indigent clients in criminal proceedings was a primary focus. Wicclair's legal career began with internships at the Federal Public Defender and U.S. District Court, along with a summer associate position at Winston & Strawn LLP, where involvement in pro bono work was significant. Wicclair holds a JD with Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BA with Honors in Journalism and Political Science from Syracuse University.
