Eric Thompson serves as the Director of Operations and PMO for the Department of Digital Payments Research and Development at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston since August 2021, overseeing operations and leading technical research into digital assets and hypothetical central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). Concurrently, Eric participates in the University of Maryland Economics Leadership Council Affiliates and authored "Ulysses Translated for the Armchair Reader" in February 2023. Previous positions include Policy Researcher at the Federal Reserve Board, Legal Counsel at State Street, and Director of Resolution Strategy at Santander Bank, along with experience at PwC and internships at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and Boston University School of Law. Eric holds a Doctor of Law from Boston University School of Law with a concentration in International Law and a B.S. in Economics and Marketing from the University of Maryland.
