Nellie Lew, Ph.D., currently serves as the Assistant Director for Consumer Protection in the Bureau of Economics at the Federal Trade Commission since March 2023. Previously, Nellie held various positions at the Federal Aviation Administration from July 2019 to March 2023, including Deputy Manager, and spent nearly a decade at the FDA, where roles included Acting Chief Economist and Assistant Director of the Economics Staff. Throughout these positions, Nellie successfully supervised teams in economic analysis, represented agencies in high-level discussions, and provided strategic economic advice and training. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Economics and a Master's degree from UC Santa Barbara, as well as a Bachelor's degree from The Johns Hopkins University and a Senior Executive Fellowship from Harvard University.
